Cosmic Raquel

Gracias a los amigos de Are Sounds Electrik? descubrí esta maravilla del kitsch setentero donde Raquel Welch ejecuta una surealista coreografía. A pesar de que la calidad del vídeo no es muy buena enseguida pensé que tenía que hacer un tema alrededor del mismo. Buscando en la red encontré una entrevista del año 1972 que le hicieron a Raquel en una televisión británica. De ahí tomé la muestra de voz para el tema. En ese fragmento le preguntaban acerca del tema del acoso en las sesiones de casting en Hollywood y de una manera muy ingeniosa, sin negar el hecho, respondía algo así como: “también puedes encontrar lobos en cualquier club nocturno, una discoteca o un restaurante”.

Así que, poseído por el espíritu de Moroder, construí esta pieza como homenaje a esta impresionante mujer que nos dejó recientemente.

Thanks to the friends of Are Sounds Electrik? I discovered this wonder of seventies kitsch where Raquel Welch performs a surreal choreography. Despite the fact that the quality of the video is not very good, I immediately thought that I had to make a theme around it. Searching the net I found an interview from 1972 that Raquel did on British television. That's where I took the voice sample for the song. In that fragment they asked her about the issue of harassment in casting sessions in Hollywood and in a very clever way, without denying the fact, she answered something like: "you can also find wolves in any nightclub, discoteque or restaurant".

So, possessed by the spirit of Moroder, I built this piece as a tribute to this amazing woman who recently left us.
